Introduction

A Data and Information Working Group was identified at the first International Meeting on the establishment of the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (RFMO) and formed at the second International Meeting. The Data and Information Working Group (D&IWG) was one of two technical working groups established to support the development of the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation. The other was the Science Working Group (SWG).

The purpose of the Data and Information Working Group, in consultation with other working groups and subsidiary bodies of the SPRFMO consultations was to: identify the types of data to be collected; develop standards for the collection, verification exchange and reporting of data; and develop standards for data security, and terms and conditions for making data available.

Participation

Participation in the Data and Information Working Group was open to all states, entities, regional economic integrated organisations and observers participating in the International Meetings on the establishment of the South Pacific RFMO.

Meetings

D&IWG Meetings were held in association with the international meetings on the establishment of the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (RFMO). The pages for historical meetings briefly summarise those meetings and are also a repository for documents used at those meetings.
