The 12th SPRFMO annual meeting was held in Manta, Ecuador, between 22 January and 2 February 2024. The annual meeting encompassed the 11th meeting of the Compliance and Technical Committee (CTC), the 11th meeting of the Finance and Administration Committee (FAC), and the 12th meeting of the SPRFMO Commission.

With historically high participation, the 12th SPRFMO Commission meeting concluded having amended seven of its existing Conservation and Management Measures (CMMs) and adopting two new ones, amending two existing Decisions and adopting three new ones, adopting the new workplan for the Scientific Committee (SC), fostering cooperation with other organisations, renewing Cooperating non-Contracting Party status for two non Members, granting Observer Programme accreditation to one Member, introducing changes to the staff regulations, adopting the recommendations from both the CTC and FAC, and instructing its Secretariat to launch a number of processes in 2024, including the recruitment of a new Executive Secretary.

The new CMMs and Decisions adopted by the Commission are related to new exploratory fisheries, protection of the Salas y Gomez and Nazca ridges area, electronic monitoring, and labour standards. Additionally, new Chairpersons for the Commission, the CTC, and the SC were elected.

The reports for the three meetings will be available within 30 days of the conclusion of the annual meeting.
