OECD reports on IUU fishing

The OECD Fisheries Team has released two papers and a policy note relating to work completed involving 30 countries and 13 RFMOs.

As the World Ocean Summit unfolds, we wish to build our bridges too and share with you our research on IUU fishing. The two papers we have recently published are a result of our intensive work with over 30 countries and economies, as well as 13 RFMOs.

The first, Closing Gaps in National Regulations Against IUU Fishing, offers a suite of policy indicators that investigate the extent to which countries meet their responsibilities in the most important dimensions of government intervention in relation to IUU fishing;
The second, Intensifying the Fight Against IUU Fishing at the Regional Level, offers another set of indicators that reflect the most important management tools at the disposal of RFMOs.

Some of the major points we wish to make can be also found in our policy note on combatting IUU fishing. Please feel free to distribute the reports as you see fit.
