The SPRFMO welcomes its newest Member, the Republic of Ecuador. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Leonardo Ar zaga, deposited Ecuador's instrument of accession on 11 May 2015 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFAT) in Wellington, New Zealand. Mr. Arizaga was accompanied by the Ambassador of Ecuador, Mr. Ra l Gangotena, and the instrument was received by Ms. Lucy Duncan, Deputy Secretary at MFAT. With Ecuador, the second coastal State of the Eastern South Pacific has joined the SPRFMO. Ecuador had previously shown its commitment by hosting the 2nd Commission meeting in Manta and will become the 14th Member of the SPRFMO on 10 June 2015.
