Following the decision of the SPRFMO Commission at its 13th meeting in Chile (February 2025), SPRFMO has officially joined the Combined Regional Authorised Vessels Tool (CRAVT)—a shared platform that consolidates publicly available vessel records from multiple Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and Regional Fisheries Bodies (RFBs). CRAVT allows users to search vessels, filter by criteria such as flag or type, and identify discrepancies across RFMO records.
This milestone is part of SPRFMO’s broader efforts to enhance data transparency, compliance, and interoperability across regional monitoring systems. The integration was made possible through the development of a dedicated API (Application Programming Interface) for vessel data exchange, in close collaboration with Dragonfly and 80 Options worked together during the integration phase to ensure a secure and accurate data flow between the two systems.
“This is a great example of how collaboration between organisations can lead to practical solutions that improve compliance and support responsible fisheries management,” said Bernard Vigga, SPRFMO Data Manager.
IMCS Network has played a key role in championing inter-organisational cooperation to strengthen fisheries monitoring and compliance frameworks, and SPRFMO’s integration into CRAVT reflects this shared commitment.
